Congratulations to the Austin Weekly News team for another strong showing at this year’s Illinois Press Association (IPA) Advertising & Editorial Contest. The paper won a bundle of awards in both disciplines, including wins for Arlene Jones’ column, editorial design manager Claire Innes’s consistently high quality layout and La Risa Lynch’s excellent series of articles on the Affordable Care Act — among many others.

Dawn Ferencak, the paper’s associate publisher, has continued to raise the paper’s excellence in general advertising, with the paper taking home prizes in scores of categories in that discipline.

According to contest judges, “The Austin Weekly News team is to be recognized for their commitment to quality in content and advertising. These two editions have a very crisp and clean appearance to them. The layouts of both issues could not have been any better.”
