On Saturday, September 19, 2015 the Austin Weekly News’ networking group West Side Men hosted their 2nd Annual Free Men’s Health Fair from 11am-2pm at Loretto Hospital, 645 S. Central in Chicago. Reverend Walter Jones of Fathers Who Care and the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders acted as Moderator. Guests heard presentations and got the chance to ask questions of the experts.
The event included complimentary lunch provided by Loretto Hospital, free Glucose Screenings, Blood Pressure Screenings, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Tests (PSA is the protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. The blood level of PSA is often elevated in men with prostate cancer), Meningitis Vaccines, and even massages. Guests also had the opportunity to learn from vendors representing Access Community Healthcare Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Costco, Jackson Square Nursing & Rehab Center, Guaranty Bank, Oak Street Health and Fathers Who Care.
The Health Fair was supported by Fathers Who Care, The James D. Montgomery Men’s Health Initiative, State Representative of the 78th District Camille Lilly, Congressman Danny K. Davis, State Representative of the 8th District La Shawn K. Ford and Senator Kimberly Lightford.
