Oaktoberfest takes your traditional Oktoberfest to the next level! This free two-day event on Friday, September 16th and Saturday, September 17th offers a premier music lineup featuring local and national artists, a Kids’ Root Beer Garden, and microbrew, wine and ethnic food offerings!
Oaktoberfest kicks off Friday night at 4:30PM with live music by Motherfolk (Indie Rock, Folk Rock) and The Black Lillies (Americana, Rock, Blues, Soul). Headliner The Band of Heathens (American Rock and Roll) hits the stage at 8:30PM. Saturday’smusic line-up features headliner Nikki Lane (Country, Americana) at 8:30PM along with Luke Winslow King at 6:30PM (Delta Blues, Folk, Ragtime, Rock ‘N Roll, Gospel), The Show Ponies at 4:30PM (Americana, Roots, Indie-grass) and Caleb Hawley at 2:30PM(Soul).
Downtown Oak Park restaurants will line North Boulevard offering a variety of seasonal menu options to enjoy, while those over 21 can purchase a 22 ounce Oaktoberfest souvenir mug + 3 drink tickets for $20 and choose from microbrews or wine including local beer from Kinslahger Brewing Company, Exit Strategy Brewing Company and Oak Park Brewing Company. The Sugar Beet Schoolhouse (Friday night) and Oak Park Festival Theatre & Oak Park Art League (Saturday) will provide volunteers to work the beer/wine tents collecting tips to support their non-profit organizations.
The Kids’ Root Beer Garden located on Marion Street on Saturday from 12-5PM offers kids the chance to create and race their own zucchini cars. The Root Beer Garden will also feature a ninja obstacle course, root beer floats, and games and activities sponsored by local organizations including Wonder Works Children’s Museum, Oak Park Public Library, Magical Minds, The Little Bits Workshop, Mathnasium of Oak Park River Forest, Success for all Youth, Little Huskie’s Wrestling Club, Flipside Academy, Lake Theatre and more! Also, Oak Park School of Rock will perform on stage from 12-2PM.
