Watch a film about the Great Migration
On Feb. 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Ave., will co-host a screening of the film “Heading West: A History of African Americans on Chicago’s West Side” in honor of the Great Migration Centennial.
The documentary film “illuminates how the biggest migration in American history brought a tidal wave of African Americans from the South, for over 100 years, many of whom settled on Chicago’s West side.”
The event, which is free, will include a post-screening conversation that will feature numerous community leaders. For more info, visit garfieldconservatory.org.
