If you’re a resident of the Austin, Garfield Park or North Lawndale communities and are planning to attend prom, Austin Weekly News wants you! Post your prom night photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using our hashtag, #AWNProm2017, and you’ll automatically be entered to win a cash prize.
We’ll select the best photos, upload them to our Facebook album, and allow people to vote by liking the photos. The photos with the most votes win the prize! Submissions must be in by June 11. The voting period is from June 12 until June 15. The winner will be announced on June 16.
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and the North Lawndale Community Coordinating Committee are hosting their second-annual planning conference on Saturday, June 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at DRW College Prep, 931 S. Homan Ave.
The two groups have been working together to create a Neighborhood Plan for North Lawndale, a grass roots-based approach to improving quality of life in the community.
Residents will be able to weigh in on issues like transportation, housing, public safety, education, health, vacant lots and economic development.
