Catch an Austin man portray Malcolm X
Di Reed (pictured top), of Austin, a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Austin, will portray the ghost of Malcolm X in “Six Stories Up in Haunted Chicago.”
The production is peppered with personal stories told by students and adults with cerebral palsy, blindness and dwarfism, as well as their non-disabled peers. Reed has macular degeneration.
“Six Stories Up” will run from Oct. 13 to Oct. 22, at Filament Theatre, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Friday and Saturday shows are 7:30 p.m.; Sunday shows are 2 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for students. Information and tickets are available at tellintales.org.
Give your input about the Galewood apartment proposal
The next meeting about a proposed Galewood redevelopment project, which calls for the construction of an 80-unit, three-building luxury apartment complex on three lots at 6600-6700 W. North Ave., will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Rutherford Sayer Park field house, 871 W. Belden Ave., at 6 p.m.
