There’s plenty of opportunities to celebrate Kwanzaa, starting with … 

On Friday, Dec. 28, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at 1900 W. Jackson Blvd., the Austin African American Business Networking Association will host its annual Kwanzaa Celebration featuring keynote speaker Kim Foxx, the Cook County State’s Attorney. Cost: $50. Then there’s this great event 

On Saturday, Dec. 29, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Afriware Books, inside the fourth floor of Eisenhower Tower, 1701 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, join Afriware for its annual Kwanzaa celebration. 

The event will feature African drumming from Atiba Y. Jali, libation by Kwame Anthony Scott a keynote message from attorney James D. Montgomery Sr. Theme: Ujamaa (cooperative economics). Keynote address at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 30, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Oak Park Public Library (Veterans Room), 834 Lake Street in Oak Park, engage in a CommUnity Kwanzaa Celebration featuring poetry, dance, live music and art. A light reception immediately follows this free event.
