Watch ‘The G Force’ 

On Wednesday, July 10, 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m., at Austin Branch Library, 5615 W. Race Ave., the Black Harvest Film Festival will screen “The G Force” by filmmaker Pamela Sherrod Anderson. 

With the rising trend of grandparents stepping in to raise their children’s children when birth parents are unable, director Anderson explores the phenomenon through the challenges, concerns and joys of two unique Chicago families headed by grandmothers.

Look ahead to more screenings 

More films will screen at Leglar later this month. “The Area,” a searing portrait of a nefarious land grab in a century-old section of Englewood on Chicago’s South Side, will screen at Legler Library on July 15.   

“The Color of Art,” highlights the present-day renaissance of Black art in Chicago. Director David Weathersby will appear at the Austin library screening of the film on Wednesday, July 17. The following Monday, July 22, Legler Library will show the film.
