State Rep. Ford hosts Emergency Town Hall

State Rep. La Shawn Ford hosted an Emergency Town Hall Meeting on December 13th, 2012 to address the issue of potential West Side Chicago Public School closings.  About 80 community members attended the event, held at Sankofa Cultural Arts Center, 5820 W. Chicago Avenue.  The event was co-hosted by Lawndale Alliance, Progressive Action Coalition for Education, Op24: Melissa Williams, Esq., Westside Ministers Coalition, Westside NAACP; Leaders Network, Austin Coming Together, Circle Family HealthCare Network, Westside Health Authority and others.

Thank you, Representative Ford, for addressing the school closings issue. You have provided a forum in which parents, teachers and activists could come together and share ideas and strategies for dealing with school closures on the West side. I am including a link to the town hall presentation for those who missed the meeting.
