Start a career in trades 

On Wednesday, March 14, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Chicago Women in Trades, 2444 W. 16th St., the organization will host an orientation and career fair for those interested in trade careers. For more info, cntact Sheena Brewer at (312) 942-1444. 

Enjoy a public speaking contest 

On Thursday, March 15, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at 5100 W. Harrison St., BUID Chicago will host its 8th annual Public Speaking Contest. For details on the contest, call (773) 227-2880 or visit buildchicago.org. 

Train in entrepreneurship and get paid for it 

The deadline for Westside Health Authority's Village Community Fellows Program, which is open to young people ages 16-24 who want to start their own businesses or help to improve their communities, is March 16. 

The program pays fellows a $200/week stipend during a 12-week intensive training. Earn up to $2,000 in startup capital for your business. Apply in person at 5437 W. Division St. For more info, contact Jaidalyn at (773) 786-0249.
