The Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA & ACL) Chicago officers and members will be presenting a 77th anniversary commemoration of the passing of the Jamaican born, Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey (b. August 17, 1887 d. June 10, 1940) on Saturday, June 10, 2017. This free event will be held at 127 N. Leamington on the grounds of the Revelation International Outreach Ministry from10:00am to 6:00pm. The parade will start at 10:30 from the staging area of Leamington and Washington, so vendors can set up and parade participants will line up no later than 10:00am so that they can decorate their cars.

There will be a youth oratory contest and spelling bee with cash prizes and gifts. The theme of the event is The Role of Education for the Black Child. There will be the Marcus Garvey Institute, Inc. photo exhibit tour, throughout the venue. There will be edutainment, martial arts, drill, tributes from the African American community as well as a panel of educators who will discuss the topic: How do we Develop a Race of Scientist Par Excellence.
