'Turn Up For What's Right Peace Rally' to Reduce Underage Drinking, Substance Abuse and Senseless Violence

On Saturday, September 12, 2015 the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders hosted a free Peace Rally from 1:00-4:00pm at Austin Town Hall, 5610 West Lake Street in Chicago. Congressman Danny K. Davis gave the Keynote Address. The rally included live entertainment of Spoken Word performances, as well as music by rising artists Sonta, NEICY, and Team October and Taty.

Sponsors of the event were Fathers Who Care, the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders and the Chicago Park District. Invited guests included Senator A. Lightford, Senator Don Harmon, Senator Patricia Van Pelt, Rep. Pamela Reaves-Harris, Representative LaShawn Ford, Representative Camille Lilly, Commissioner Robert Steele, Commissioner Richard Boykin, Alderman Jason Ervin, Alderman Chris Taliaferro, Commander Barbara West and Commander Dwayne Betts, the Substance  Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
