Rep. LaShawn Ford (8th) released a statement Nov. 6 urging Governor-elect Bruce Rauner to consider West Side leaders for his transition team.

"The West Side of Chicago is in need of attention, and this administration is off to a bad start if it is not fully recognizing every community," Ford said. "There are qualified West Side leaders who can offer insight as members of Mr. Rauner's transition team."

Rauner added former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar and Bill Daley, former White House chief of staff to President Barack Obama, as well as Rev. James Meeks of Salem Baptist Church and Pastor Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church to his transition team.

No West Side leaders, however, have been selected.

"I urge Mr. Rauner to appoint a qualified West Side leader to his transition team to begin his leadership in a more inclusive process," Ford said.

Your comments are right on point, Representative Ford. Thanks for being a voice for your district. I particularly appreciate your keeping focus on the least of these, particularly in black communities around the city and state.

Jesse, please tell me you are not as Foolish as you sound. If you are black, I am embarassed for our entire race! There are Educated Blacks who are capable of building our community. Unfortunately La Shaun has just been put on probation. he is Not a leader and needs to clean this up right now regardless of the degree of the offense. We need No More Preacher Politicans whos objective are back door deals. Meeks and Goofy man Brooks are crooks who plan on Using GOD to heal our community. Please ?'

If Governor-Elect Bruce Rauner starts off his transition team without any representation from qualified West Side Leaders, it would only show, that his loyalty is only to his political supporters, as he reference Quinn's Loyalty. I guess it is really Business - As - Usual... So Sad... Thank You Lord for Faith in The Supernatural...

Right on State Rep Ford! Westside representation is necessary and key to the success of his term.

LaShawn, do the right thing and support a white alderman for the 29th ward!
