Corey Crump, 35, of the 1700 block of North Austin Avenue, a suspected drug dealer, has been charged in the death of a Park Ridge man who died from a lethal fentanyl-heroin overdose, Chicago police announced Thursday.
Crump is the first drug dealer to be charged in connection with selling fentanyl-laced heroin.
Chicago police made the announcement at police headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan, Thursday afternoon.
Crump was charged in the death of Joseph Krecker, 17, of Park Ridge. Krecker was found dead June 6 in his vehicle on the Northwest Side, according to a press release put out by Chicago Police News Affairs.
Krecker was the son of Franklin Park Deputy Police Chief Jack Krecker, who helped the Chicago Heroin Task Force identify the location where his son obtained the drugs, according to the news release. The News Affairs spokesperson was unavailable for comment Thursday. Authorities, according to the release, were also aided by the victim’s acquaintances.
