In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) will honor several local women as part of her inaugural Legendary Leadership Awards celebration, starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 24, at the Austin Walmart Store, 4650 W. North Ave.
Among the women to be honored are: Camille Lilly, vice president of external affairs and development at Loretto Hospital, and executive director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce; Rev. Pearlie Freeman, founder and pastor of Rock of Salvation Baptist Church; and Margaret Garner, owner of Broadway Consolidated, Inc., a full-service construction firm that built the Austin Walmart-the first woman-owned company to construction one of the retailer’s stores.
