Stress will kill you. You’ve heard this before but you don’t take it seriously. Stress has a direct effect on your lifespan by shortening your life. Severe stress puts your body into critical status. You need to reduce stress in your life to live a long life.
Stress is not a disease but it leads to disease. Stress can be a strain or force on your body. Stress is either external as in physical exertion or internal as in emotional turmoil. When you are stressed you may not acknowledge it mentally. However, your body processes warning signs of stress including stomach and back aches, headaches, acne, and insomnia to name a few. These warning signs occur because these things are in areas directly affected by your stress level. If you are experiencing knots or bloating in your stomach it is a reason to go to the doctor and find out what is causing the issue, because stress can cause physical manifestation of disease to occur. The fact is that increased waist circumference is a direct indicator of risk of heart disease and also potential high blood pressure.
The body’s response
Stress causes internal imbalance. The long-term effect will be hormonal changes that will result in metabolic effects on the liver, heart, or kidneys. Regular diseases that we see as a result are diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. This is actual response by the body to constant imbalance that has not been addressed. Finally, the body begins acting counter to the way it was intended. Multiple organ failure causes a diseased state. The typical way that disease is treated is through medications. This is why we see so many people in America on multiple medications trying to treat the diseases affecting different areas of their body. The old saying ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is the mantra that people should repeat to themselves.’
One key to avoiding disease is stress prevention. There are three things that can help immensely to reduce stress. Eat regularly, exercise a minimum of 3 times a week, and sleep well. These are simple rules to live by but you can’t pay people to do these things.
Eating regular, portion controlled meals helps regulate your body. Your body needs food for everyday activity. It converts your food to fuel to keep you going. And the electrolytes in your body are needed to maintain homeostasis. When you are not eating or eating the right things your body is imbalanced. When you add exercise to eating the right things you help maintain your bones and muscles and you keep your blood circulating properly throughout your body. Your blood circulation from heart to lungs and back out through your body is the reason you can breathe easily without labor.
Finally, at the end of the day giving your body at least eight hours to sleep allows your body to rest, affects your overall mood, and helps regulate your hormones. So even in rest, you have a direct effect on your health and lifespan.
Stress undoubtedly is a direct pressure in your life that impacts your life and death. Stress can push you into a diseased state. Sufficient imbalance in your body is enough to cause multiple organ failure. However, observing simple healthy behaviors is enough to save your life and just might increase your years.
