Edna Stewart’s former restaurant at Madison and Kedzie no longer carries her name, but a street near the legendary eatery will bear the soul food matriarch’s name. The community came out last Saturday Feb. 16, to help unveil the honorary street named after Stewart, 72, who died in 2010.

Ald. Jason Ervin joined other community members to help dedicate the corner of Madison and Albany in her honor.

The former Edna’s Restaurant is now under new management and also has a new name, Ruby’s. Edna’s was in business for nearly 50 years upon Stewart’s death.
