I grew up on the West Side many years ago but I do not know the West Side of today [Dominican University students get involved on Chicago’s West Side, Aug. 21]. It is so sad to hear about killings of so many young people. It is encouraging to see these two students working to be part of the solution. Kudos.

This was a joy to read. Our young people need to know that there is a better way and that they do not have to live the environment they are born into. Great possibilities are available. This article was like a breath of fresh air.
