Frank Robinson became the first black manager of a major league team on Oct. 9, 1975 with the Cleveland Indians. He was player-manager with the team for two years. Most recently, he was the manager of the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals from 2002-2006. Robinson, 78, currently works in the major league commissioner’s office.
