Jesse Jackson organized Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity), in December 1971. An off-shoot of Operation Breadbasket, the Civil Rights organization merged with Jackson’s political organization, The Rainbow Coalition, in 1996 to form Rainbow/PUSH.
