I had a very similar experience with two white, plain clothes police [Austin pastor claims harassment by police, June 18]. They handcuffed me (temporarily detained), searched my vehicle (without my consent), and cursed and made derogatory statements. They wouldn’t have conducted themselves with a white, middle-age male in that manner. I work for a member of Congress and am a taxpaying, law-abiding citizen. These are the reasons why there is a poor relationship between the police and the black community.
