Black-owned Lincoln Motion Picture Company released its first full-length film, A Man’s Duty, on Sept. 3, 1919. Lincoln Motion Picture Company was founded in Omaha, Neb. by brothers Noble and George Johnson. The company later relocated to Los Angeles. The company folded in 1923, and Noble Johnson (1881-1978), who also starred in some of his company’s productions, continued his acting career in Hollywood.
