CHICAGO – State Rep. Jaime Andrade, D-Chicago, is reminding constituents that the deadline to enroll in the Affordable Care Act for 2015 coverage is Feb. 15, 2015, and he is encouraging all those who do not currently have health insurance to sign up as soon as possible.

“Through the Affordable Care Act, we’ve seen record numbers of people receive health insurance for the first time,” said Andrade. “So many people take for granted the ability to simply go to the doctor, but that’s unfortunately not a reality for too many in our community. We have the opportunity to change that, but the deadline is rapidly approaching, so don’t delay.”

Marketplace coverage that began at any point in 2014 ended on December 31, 2014. In order to have coverage in 2015, participants must enroll by February 15, 2015. Coverage will then begin on March 1. Those who are uninsured this year may have to pay a penalty, either 2% of their income, or $325 per adult, whichever is greater.

“Having health insurance means better health, financial security, and peace of mind,” said Andrade. “If you need help with enrollment or simply want clarification on the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by my office as soon as possible.”
