State Rep. LaShawn K. Ford (8th) recently joined the board of directors for the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) new Pathway to Adventure Council. Ford’s position is vice president of membership and he’ll be responsible for promoting “the positive act and range of opportunities the BSA provides young people no matter their financial situation,” according to a statement released by Ford’s office.

Ford’s relationship with the BSA goes back to his experience as a Boy Scout growing up in Austin. The legislator said the organization “introduced me to a positive culture, which is often foreign to youth growing up on the West and South sides of Chicago.”
