Engage in compassionate dialogue

The Oak Park-based religious alliance Community of Congregations will host its spring meeting on April 27, 7 p.m., at Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church, 405 S. Euclid Ave. in Oak Park.

The meeting will feature a compassionate conversation with members of the Austin community. Five women from Austin will share their stories to deepen awareness and understanding.

Celebrate future doctors

The I Am Abel Foundation will celebrate the 2017 class of Urban Bridges Medical Mentoring Program inductees, all of whom have aspirations to become physicians. The Foundation provides inductees with a network of support and resources that’s designed to guide them through the arduous process of becoming doctors.

The event, called the Preparing Our Successors in Medicine Annual Student Gala, will take place on Saturday, April 29, 7:30 p.m., at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave.
