Kehrein Center for the Arts hosting The People’s Convention: The African Fest Goes Out West

In partnership with The Black Panther’s Annual People’s Convention, The Kehrein Center for the Arts will have entertainers and vendors at this community event that includes celebration, speakers, and a film screening all happening on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors will offer African attire, art and jewelry along with food. A conversation with Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., and a commemorative birthday celebration of Chairman Fred Hampton Sr., and a film screening of “Judas and The Black Messiah” will be part of the program on Saturday. Austin Workforce Collaborative Bus Tour

Austin Coming Together and the Austin Workforce Collaborative will offer a bus-tour traveling to West Side entrepreneurship programs on Friday, August 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The tour will meet at 5049 W. Harrison St.. It will cover available services at Allies for Community Business, Defy Ventures, The Hatchery and Westside Forward. Participants can gain knowledge from Chicago-based entrepreneurs and learn about bringing business ideas to fruition. The tour is background friendly, and all ages are welcome. Every Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Legler Regional Branch of the Chicago Public Library

Through a partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Chicago Public Library, free mental health resources are being offered every Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Legler Regional Branch of the Chicago Public Library. They will mainly offer individual therapy services, and their goal is to meet people where they are at; providing additional management resources with housing and food assistance.
