The Austin Town Hall farmers market is back up and running for the year.
Every Thursday through October, the market at 5610 W. Lake St. will offer a variety of produce, meat, dairy, baked goods, hot food and local art.
On the first day of the 2026 market on June 11, vendors set up tents in the grass in front of Austin Town Hall before rain ended the market a few hours early. In the coming weeks, the market will boast 17 new vendors, brought together in part by this year’s new Market Manager Cinnamon Sanchez
At the end of last year’s market season, market staff and Sanchez, who was produce stand manager for Forty Acres Fresh Market, discussed how to improve the market in 2026.
“We were able to debrief and hone in on some of the vendors that we wanted to look at for the next season, some staples and things that were missing,” Sanchez said. That included multiple produce vendors, plus regular meat, poultry and dairy sellers too. “We wanted to make sure that we had some artists there as well, because that’s something that was lacking last year.”
Every Thursday, the Austin Town Hall farmers market will still include a few tables set up by organizations offering resources to the community. Though a handful of these organizations will rotate throughout the season, the goal is “to make sure vendors are the focus,” Sanchez said.
“We want to make sure there are more vendors than nonprofits,” Sanchez added, “make it feel more-so like a market as opposed to a resource event or something smaller where folks can’t really get all of the things that they would get at a traditional farmers market.”
Before becoming market manager, Sanchez’s career has been spent in restaurants, hotels, and most recently, urban farming and agriculture. Over the last year, Sanchez has worked for Forty Acres Fresh Market, first as a vendor and produce stand manager at last year’s Austin Town Hall farmers market, then as the marketing manager for the brick and mortar that opened last September.
With a passion for local food access, Sanchez is excited to become more immersed in the Austin community throughout this farmers market season.
“The area is in need of a robust, energetic farmers market, and I want to be able to help build that out as much as possible because the people in the community are amazing,” Sanchez said. “I want to make sure that the West Side has a dope market, just like the North Side. Everyone who is a part of the community deserves to have local food access and a bunch of diverse options and information available for them.”
As in previous years, the Austin Town Hall farmers market takes SNAP and Link and, for every dollar customers spend with either, they get $1 back from the market, up to $25.
Also similar to past seasons, this year’s market will host cooking demonstrations throughout October. Some of this year’s chefs or nonprofits have done demos during previous markets, and Sanchez is also coordinating with chefs associated with Austin EATS. Last year, five local chefs who were recipients of Austin EATS grants held cooking demonstrations at the market.
Local chefs interested in hosting a cooking demonstration, or community members who have suggestions about programming or community events they’d like to see at the market, can email austintownhall.citymarket@gmail.com.
Sanchez said this Thursday’s market is in celebration of Juneteenth and Father’s Day.
“We have a pretty packed vendor list and are looking to make sure folks are in the park celebrating with us,” Sanchez said.
The Austin Town Hall farmers market is every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Austin Town Hall Park, 5610 W. Lake St.
