👋 The Austin Weekly News wants to hear from you!

We’re conducting a reader survey to learn what matters most to you and how we can make our reporting even more valuable to the community.

It only takes five minutes. Take the survey and tell us what you think.

Summer’s not over yet! If you didn’t spend any time outside in yesterday’s 80-degree weather, we have a semi-outdoor activity to take advantage of in today’s top story.

At the Lawndale Pop-Up at 3601 W. Douglas Blvd., there’s a new immersive art exhibit inside a shipping container. Terreon Collins created the art exhibit around his experience with sickle cell disease.

“I’m able to provide a visual and physical representation of what the community holds and what people should learn about sickle cell, what they should know, and how to best support or treat a family member with the disease,” Collins told one of our reporters, Hector Cervantes.
