William Milton Bradley III
Austin resident Catherine Bradley lost her beloved father William Milton Bradley III, on Jan. 14, 2005. Although we are only 48 days into the new year, already many friends and relatives have lost someone near and dear. Today, the funeral of recording artist Tyrone Davis was held in Forest Park. Last week it was actor Ossie Davis and jazz organist Jimmy Smith. Austin Weekly columnist Frank Lipscomb lost his niece, Teresa Robinson.
William M. Bradley III, was born in Louisville, Ken. on Jan. 11, 1931. After graduating from Central High School, he joined the Armed Forces. After serving his country, he came to Chicago where he met and married Gladys Walker. To this union three daughters and one son were born: Catherine, Sheila, Carol (Bob) and Victor (Trice).
Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife, Gladys; his daughters, Catherine, Sheila and Carol (Bob) and son, Victor (Trice); one sister, Ann Johnson (James); and one brother, James. He is also survived by his granchildren, Chris, Brandon and Savon; three great-grandchildren, Catherine, Crystal and Kayla; his god-daughters Jacinta Jennings and Fiona; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Mr. Bradley had been a member of Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church, but later followed his family to Transformation Baptist Church. Services were held Jan. 22 at Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church, 116 S. Central Ave. Arrangements were handled by Smith & Thomas Funeral Home, 5708 W. Madison.
Teresa Robinson
Services for Teresa Robinson, the niece of Frank Lipscomb were held today, Feb. 17, 2005 at Lawndale Community Church, 3827 W. Ogden Ave.
Teresa, 25, and her boyfriend Derrick Stephens, 29, were killed Feb. 8 coming home from work. Teresa and Derrick were driving east on Cermak Road when the car they were riding in was struck by a southbound car on Central Park Avenue.
Tyrone Davis
Services for R&B singer Tyrone Davis were held today at Living Word Christian Center Church in Forest Park. One of Mr. Davis’ big hits was “Turn Back the Hands of Time.” He was 66 years old and died from complications of a stroke he suffered late last year.
