15th District police officers are looking for a man who sexually-assaulted a teenage girl in the Austin neighborhood this week.

The suspect, described as a black male between 23-27 years old, approached the 13-year-old girl on Monday near Race and Parkside at around 7:15 that morning. According to police, the male walked up to the girl and told her that he’d been watching her. He then grabbed her around the neck, said he had a gun and walked her to his parked car.

The vehicle, a white four-door older model, was parked near 411 N. Parkside, according to police. The offender ordered the girl inside his vehicle and sexually assaulted her, police say. The suspect drove the victim to her home and told her to get him money or he would burn the house down. She went inside and called police but the offender fled before officers’ arrived.

The male is described as 6-feet-2 or 3 weighing 180-200 lbs, with brown eyes, black hair worn in chin-length dread locks, with a slight beard and mustache. He was wearing a black skull cap, black hoodie and black sweat pants. The offender’s vehicle was an older four-door, mid-to-large size white car.
