AustinTalks received two awards for its work in journalism on May 3. The Chicago Headline Club announced the 2012 winners of the Peter Lisagor awards at its annual dinner, where the area’s top journalists were honored.
In categories that pitted AustinTalks against the staff of DNAinfo Chicago and The Huffington Post, AustinTalks reporters came out on top.
Former AustinTalks Editor Ellyn Fortino was honored for “neighborhood/community news” for an online publication, and AustinTalks columnist John W. Fountain III won in the “continuing independent blog” category. Chicago Headline Club is the country’s largest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
