Angry parents and teachers protested outside the Chicago Board of Education May 22 as the board was set to approve the closing on 50 citywide schools, including four in Austin – Emmet, May, Key and Armstrong elementary schools.
Protestors were also escorted out of board chambers during the meeting. Many community activists, however, have vowed to continue fighting the closures slated to happen this month.
