Austin Weekly News and the West Side Business Network, in partnership with Bonni McKeown, a Blues musician and blogger, will host a FREE screening of the documentary “Reel Black Love: Black Romance in Film.”

Chicago filmmaker Darryl Pitts interviewed over 60 actors, actresses, directors and producers for this fascinating 70 minute documentary on Black romance in the movies. Clips of favorite films show stars from Diahann Carroll to Larenz Tate, Leon (Robinson), Tyler Perry, Cynda Williams, Nia Long.

Director Darryl Pitts will host a discussion after the film, and he’ll introduce the new movie he’s working on with Bonnie McKeown called “The Rhythm and the Blues,” based on the real lives of West Side singer/drummer Larry Taylor and the blues in his family.
