Chicago police are warning citizens who live within Austin’s 15th Police District to be alert to a rash of armed robberies in which unknown offenders armed with handguns demand victims’ property.
Police suspect multiple “unknown black male offenders,” between the ages of 20 and 35. The suspects range in height and weight, from 5’8” to 6’2” to 150 to 200 pounds, respectively. They may also be wearing dreadlocks.
Three incidents have been reported between Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. The first occurred on the 5200 block of West Quincy at 5:00 a.m. The others occurred at 5200 West Quincy on Oct. 16 at 1:15 a.m. and at 5300 West Jackson on Oct. 19 at 9:45 p.m.
Police are urging residents to be alert and aware of their surroundings and, if approached by witnesses to the crimes, to dial 9-1-1 and remain on the scene. Anyone with information on the crimes is encouraged to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
