On Friday, May 20, Austin Weekly News staff photographer William Camargo caught up with Austin residents Kandyn Hatley and Quinteria Harris, both 18, en route to their senior proms.
Hatley was sitting curbside in a car parked in front of her Central Ave. home, having just walked from under a wreath of balloons relatives placed outside the gates of the apartment complex.
Hatley, a senior at Academy of Scholastic Achievement, was wearing an altered dress from Alley Express. She said she wants to be an obstetrician and gynecologist and plans on attending Eastern Illinois University.
Harris, who was just leaving her Laramie Ave. home when Camargo pulled up seeking photographs, is a senior at Corllis High School.
