Around 300 fathers from the Austin community gathered at Catalyst Circle Rock School, 5608 W. Washington Blvd., on Sept. 12 to welcome their children to school. The fourth annual event allowed featured a breakfast program hosted by radio personality Ramonski Luv, of V103.

“Fathers could be seen shaking hands, talking amongst one another, giving high fives, and hugging their children and all children,” school officials observed in a statement.

The fathers lined up near Central and Washington Blvd. at 7:15 a.m. that morning to greet the students. In addition, volunteers with MB Financial helped the school complete a variety of service projects and tutoring sessions. Members of Austin Coming Together distributed information on community job training programs and other resources for fathers to take home.

The event was designed to be more than a one-off day. After the breakfast, school officials encouraged the fathers to volunteer even more time at the school with students.
