Rally around prison reform
On Friday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m., at West Austin Development Center, 4920 W. Madison St., state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford will host Operation Save Lives. Buses and cars will leave the center at 9 a.m. to go to Stateville Correctional Center, 16830 Route 53 in Crest Hill.
The press conference and rally at the correctional center will be around prison gerrymandering, voting rights, solitary confinement, bad health care and education.
Attend the annual Youth Power Expo
On Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Garfield Park Community Worship Center, 4100 W. Jackson, the third annual Youth Power Expo will take place.
