At least two major Juneteenth celebrations will take place on the West Side this weekend.
The Columbus Park Advisory Council will host the 2022 Juneteenth West Fest on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, from noon to 8 p.m. both days, at Columbus Park, 500 S. Central Ave. in Austin.
The Advisory Council will be joined by a range of other hosting organizations, including the Westside Arts Council, the Westside Business Development Corporation, the Chicago Westside Branch NAACP and Introspect Youth Services, Inc., among other legacy organizations.

And on Saturday, June 18, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Greater St. John Bible Church, 1256 N. Waller Ave. in Austin, will host a free Juneteenth family celebration in the church’s dining hall.
The event will feature guest speakers, entertainment, food, fellowship raffles and more. Attendees are asked to dress in African attire.
