Did you know that Austin has its very own City Market? Since 2020 the Austin Town Hall City Market has grown from a ten week long single vendor produce stand to a bustling marketplace offering a variety of local foods through the summer and fall.
The Austin Town Hall City Market opens this Thursday June 8 at 5610 W Lake Street. It runs from 1:00PM-6:00PM every Thursday through October 26. With new manager Veah Larde at the helm, this year’s market season features a robust lineup of vendors, entertainment, resources, and programming.
The Austin Town Hall City Market’s purpose is to create access for residents to patronize family farms and local businesses by purchasing fresh, locally grown produce, prepared foods, baked goods, artisanal items, vegan and value-added products.

The market bolsters Austin’s economy, keeps spending in the community, and invests in the neighborhood. Best of all it is a weekly event that welcomes everyone across Chicagoland to experience Austin in a safe, family friendly environment.
Regular market goers will notice major changes this year. New vendors include Forest Park’s Kribi Coffee and the Vulgar Vegan Cupcake. Want to enjoy an afternoon in the park? The market will now provide a seating area for visitors to relax and enjoy the meals and snacks they purchased.
Additionally, each week there will be chef demonstrations, a kids corner full of activities and snacks, and resources from community organizations like BUILD. Most importantly, the market is an accessible shopping experience for everyone. Not only is SNAP EBT accepted, for every dollar spent with a Link card, customers earn Link Match coupons to spend on fresh produce, up to $25 per swipe (see infographic for tips on how to maximize your Link dollars at the farmers market).
