The blues is the rhythm that flows under and through so much of our music. But often the blues is overlooked. That’s true on the West Side where the genre has deep roots, is integral to the neighborhoods and is wrapped up in fascinating family stories.
In this issue of West Side magazine, our Deborah Bayliss profiles three blues legends. Read on to learn about Katherine Davis, Timothy Taylor and Larry Taylor. And Kenn Cook, the West Side’s emerging archivist, gathers up artifacts from Davis’ long blues career for a great spread designed by Susan McKelvey.
There’s more music in this issue along with love for the Love Is On The Green Line project imagined into reality by Reesheda Nicole Berry of the Kehrein Center for the Arts.
