History through the eyes of Timuel Black

Timuel Black was born the same year of the First World War in 1918. He was 10 when the Great Depression hit and a teenager when Franklin Delano Roosevelt was inaugurated in 1933. By age 20, he watched with the rest of the country the start of the Second World War in 1939 and saw its end four years later. He was 36 when Emmett Till was murdered in Mississippi in the summer of 1955.
